Five mascots for the 2008 Olympics were announced yesterday in Beijing.
All cartoon characters, one represents the Olympic Flame, but the other four are based on popular wildlife in China - the Tibetan antelope, panda, swallow, and fish.
Each has been given rhyming names as follows:
Fish - Beibei
Panda - Jingjing
The Olympic Flame - Huanhuan
Tibetan antelope - Yingying
Swallow - Nini
When the first syllable of each of them is put together, it spells "Beijing huanyingni" or "Welcome to Beijing"
